I think that all of the schools have their importance. But i don't think that any one school is completely right. Each one of them play a part in deciding who we are. If there was only one factor to make up everyone then there wouldn't be any point in the rest of what we go through.
I agree with raell. I think they all have very good points. But I specifically like the cognitive school. It seems to me that we as humans tend to act out by how we see ourselves. For instance: I see myself as a healthy teenager, and I act out in that same manner. Before I eat anything, I remember the image of myself being healthy.
There's not really one school that I agree the most with. Each one has ideas that I agree with but also ideas that I do not believe in. Chemicals, behaviors, repressed memories, and other things all affect us but I do not believe that human beings are just robots. The humanistic school says that and I believe in free will as it states but I don't think that we have set people of who we are going to be. All of the schools of psychology have truth to them but there are none that I agree with more than any other.
Hmmm.... which one, which one. I think I agree with what some of the other kids have been saying. There are parts of each school that make a lot of sense and seem to contribute to who we are. For instance, John wasn't a replica of Steve Carrell in that one movie based solely on a few repressed memories, or a few bad thoughts. A lot of culminating factors resulted in the pathetic situation he found himself in. These factors include ideas from the sociocultural school to the neurobiological school as well as the "he might be gay cause his boss checked him out" school. It seems to me that a good psychologist would have to kind of incorporate all of these different schools into their methods of treatment or analysis. But, in order to not wimp out on the question, I think that the school of thought that seems to delve into the the human psyche the most to find out root causes would be the pschoanalytic school. I love Freud's theory of the conscious and unconscious. I think that repressed emotions, desires and bla bla bla can have a very real effect on how we behave as humans.
I, like the others, agree and disagree with the things represented in these schools. But if I had to pick one, I think I would choose Humanism. Humanism is the gentler school. It helps you realize that no matter what is around you, no matter what your environment is like, in the end, you decide who you're going to be. And I truly believe that. You decide who you're going to be and how you're going to live your life.
I really think all the schools of psychology have certain points that all make sense. A lot of them all connect together, too, so its hard to choose just a few of them that I like more than the others. I do like the cognitive school a lot, because I think it is so true that the way you see yourself affects the way you really are. There are certain points in a few of the schools that I also disagree with, but they all have pretty good points to them.
Like everyone has said, every school of psychology has its own purpose in our lives. There are also things that I don't agree on in every school. I do like how the cognitive school says that we are who we think we are because our thoughts determine many of our actions.
well i think they all serve in strong in there specific area but i lean more towards the humanistic. Personally i think that as humans we have more control of our own self not like the behavioral school which leads on the fact that were treated more like robots. Also the part that were all born goods gives us the privilege to give and take leading us on the concept that you know who you are to become. The environmet plays a key role but in the end you yourself know who you are. Humanistic is about reaching your ultimate potential.
This is really hard to answer. Each school has a belief that is honestly hard to argue with, but I'm going to have to side with the Psychoanalytic school of psychology as I agree with the thought that your brain has the conscious and sub-conscious halves and that you unconscious part of your mind can control your reactions and you have no control of it.
i believe in a mix of the psychoanalytic, and the cognitive schools. the idea that "your thoughts become you" i believe mixed with the conscious and subconscious idea. When you think that you are a fun filled, enthusiastic person it starts out in your conscious mind and gradually seeps through the barrier, becoming part of your subconscious mind until it simply becomes a part of what you do, and who you are. The idea of repressed desires, thoughts, memories, and feelings is also very true. Sometimes you hardly realize what you are doing and wonder why you did it. But this philosophy covers that, why do you flinch when something surprises you, but when your expecting it you prepare yourself for it in ordered not to? while other schools of psychology believe that your life is pre-determined, or that you are controlled by factors way beyond your grasp and control, these school, with their ideas of the human mind allow for your life to become a world of decision, counter decision, desire, and counter decision. that is why i choose these schools they allow for change and for man to change his heading and direction in life.
I think that each of these schools plays into our overall make up. I would have to say that the biggest influencing school of psychology would have to be cognitive. I think through everything. All of my decisions are based off of serious pondering time. Ibase my life off of my thoughts, not off of my emotions or outside influences.
I, like everyone else, have mixed feelings on the issue. I don't have a single favorite school, but I do agree with many of the principles that they are based on. I lean toward the humanistic and cognitive schools. I think that their is a lot of power in thought and how that affects our minds and our attitudes. If we are always thinking negatively then nothing will seem to go right for you. If you tell yourself you can do something, then more often then not you will be able to do it. I believe that we do in fact become what we think.
I don't lean to any side of any school. I don't think any has a greater importance then an other. But I do like what the idea of humanistic. At the same time I can't say that one is better then any of the other ones. They all have good things to them and they all have bad things to them. None of them are cut and dry of this one I agree 100% with and this one I don't agree with at all. I agree with all of them about equally and like all of them about equally too.
I'd have to say that I mostly reside in the Neurobiological school, although I do think that limiting yourself to one school limits your understanding. I believe that, in one way or another, every school has a bit of the truth. We do learn by rewards and punishments, as well as subconscious memories. But mostly, I believe that Chemicals in our brain are the primary source of behaviors and actions, although what causes these chemicals to be released is another matter entirely.
I'm definitely going to have to say humanist. I love Disney movies!!!! If Disney says we should be who we're meant to be and stick out of the crowd then that's what I'm going to do. :) I don't want to be a stunted plant.
I agree each school has its own important and each one can help us understand ourselves and others. If I had to favor one school more than another I would pick cognitive. I like the fact that you can do anything you want so long as you believe you can. If think you want to be a rocket scientist, you can be a rocket scientist. If you think your a lazy coach potato bum, then you are a lazy coach potato bum. XD
The school I mostly agreed is the cognitive. " You are what you think." I believe that if you believe you can succeed in life that you will be able to. If you think you will fail, then you will!!!! I see it in my own life everyday and thats why I agree with this one the most.

I dont have a one school I agree on more. I think that they are all equal, and all these different schools in some way affect who we are.
