I think Freud was right on some things but not on everything. i don't agree with his idea of libido. to think you have sexual feeling when your little with your mouth is ridiculous.
I AGREE WITH FREUD ALL THE WAY!!!! He was a genius and understood in my opinion the human mind and personality with id, ego and superego and all the stages of growing up with the libido almost perfectly. I'm not 100% sure about some things he said though. For example the sexual feelings you have during the stages. But then again it makes perfect sense to me. We just can't prove it, since all those feelings are subconscious. That is why it sounds ridiculous to some people. Anyways, Freud was an unbelievable intelligent and genius man, that drew an almost perfect and crazy detailed picture of the human mind/personality!

well.... i don't know i don't think that everything is connected to sex or sexual desires. But i don't think hes completely wrong either. i think it all depends on the persons personality.Everyone's personality is different, wouldn't you think that our desires would be different? i don't know maybe i'm wrong.:)
See, this is interesting, because while I that how we are raised does make a difference, but not as much as freaud makes it out. And I think he had some ideas with his parts of the mind that were... Sort of correct, but not really. My beliefs on why we are the way we are are very religiously based, in that the parts of us that desire to do evil come from the unspiritual man, under the influence of the devil, and the part of us which desires to do good is our spirit, under the influence of God. We have free will to decide which influences we will follow. Wether or not Freud is right about how we develop at different stages of life, I don't know, but I do not think that it's because of Libido. I believe that however we really are, we are that way because God designed us to be that way. That's all I know.
I think that this is a very interesting and kind of intelligent way of looking at this. He put a lot of thought into it, perhaps to much. His ideas are kind of far fetched but most of his conclusions for why we do what we do are correct. I don't agree on some of his ideas but I think he on the most part, knew what he was talking about. I think he was a good psychologist that put a lot of thought into his work.
I do not really agree with Freud's personality theory. I do not think all of our actions are a result of libido, and I don't not think that children posses libido.
Freud had a very sexy view of the world. It very much fits in with his time period and with Darwinism and it is astounding how much it explains, and yet . . . kids having libido from birth?? Yikes! Kids say weird things, but they don't usually mean them in THAT way! I think his description of methods to deal with inappropriate feelings is spot on though.
I think that he has the right ideas about a human just wanting to mate with someone, I believe that is true because that is what we live to do, impress the opposite sex. I don't agree with him when he says that girls want to be like boys.... NO!!!! I think that little kids don't even know what is going on most the time. And they notice the differences but then they forget about it and keep playing their little games.
I agree with Freuds theory it makes perfect sense to me. I think people just don't want to accept they are animals and the whole libido thing may sound crazy to people but when you put it all together it makes perfect sense.
I think that Freud was an absolute genius, however I do not totally agree with him. The libido thing is kind of believable but very weird. I thought the fixation thing was kind of weird, but when you think about it, it is kind of believable. But overall, I just don't know where Freud came up with a lot of the stuff that he did.
I agree somewhat with what he says. I don't think he takes into account how diverse some peoples personality's are. But in general I think its not exactly correct but it explains it enough that it can make sense if you don't have a clue.

I've personally never thought of it like he describes it, but once you really think about it, it all seems to click together and make sense. Everything dealing with the id, ego and superego fascinates me. The libido is harder to accept, but at one point it seems like it is really possible.
On the libido I think he is pretty accurate. Maybe not the whole, love your dad in the gross way as a 6 year old type thing. But the fact that it goes into hiding when your 8 or so is so true. Thats when you think boys and girls have cooties!! So I totally agree on that one.

I agree with most of it. I don't really agree with the penis envy thing, but other then that. I can totally relate with. I get the oral, anal, phallicc, latent, and gentile stage. Cause when I look at kids I can see it in them, and it's awesome because now I understand why they're acting the way they are. And when I talk with people, you can kind of tell if they're stuck on a certain stage in life still. It's mind blowing!

Also i don't believe that everything is sex driven. he was seriously mistaken. there is way more to life than that, but from his perspective that is what he based most of his theory on. but hey thats only one perspective on human nature i don't think one man can completely define what it is to be human, and so he did what he could...

I also don't agree with his theory about, if there's not a fatherly model around for boys, that they will be gay. I think its all about how you raise them.

i think freud does have good ideas and reasonings, but only to an extent. i am more on the nature side of personality.
