B4 Question #2

Which school of psychology do you agree with most and why?

I agree the most with the psychoanalytical school. In many cases of mental problems people can't really see any obvious reasons for the problem, not even the closest relatives. The person might have been raised in a regular community and environment and didn't have any obvious influencing experiences that could justify a possible mental problem. Often there are repressed feelings or desires the person doesn't even know about. Those subconscious feelings and desires can influence the behavior and acting of a person without the person knowing it.
But actually I think that every school of psychology has some good points. If you focus too much on one school in particular, you can't always find a solution for a problem. In my opinion we should consider factors and ideas from every school of psychology to find the cure for mental or behavioral errors and problems.

I think I would like a school in which they put some aspects of all of the schools together. I like certain facts from each and one of them. Like a true .. sycophant! (Haha, I just found that word on google). And I don't think you can really define yourself as a follower of just one of the schools.. I like them all. Maybe I lean more towards the psychoanalytic school of psychology because it sounds so cool with the different parts of the mind. It's kinda spooky and very spot on, you know? It makes sense. Every school makes sense. AH. I liked what Lucas said, though.

I also agree with Lucas, each school of psychology has good points, but if we focus on one school, then we can't get all the answers to the problems. I like the Cognitive school of psychology because I believe that our thoughts can be a motivation. If you think you are good at sports, the chances are that you will work at it and eventually, you will be good at sports.
Can=Will

Can't=Won't
You are what you think.

I'm debating between the cognitive and the psychoanalytic school of psychology. I do believe that what you think has a huge influence on the person you end up to be, but on the other hand I do believe there are repressed feelings, memories, desires we are not aware of, that are hiding in our subconscious mind. All the schools have very good points, but those two are the ones that stand out the most to me.

I agree with different points in all of the schools, but I really like cognitive and sociocultural. I believe that you are what you think. That is how you tell yourself that you can do something and how well you will do it. I also believe that where you grow up and what challenges/opportunities you are faced with will effect your life.

I agree with the cognitive school probably the most. I know that I have seen it work both ways in my life. If I have positive thoughts and I am telling myself I can do what I have to do, I am able to do what I needed to do. On the other hand if I have negitive thoughts and tell myself that I can't do it, and that I'm going to suck, I'm not able to do it to my best ability, and I do suck. I agree with other schools and other points, but I have seen the cognitive in my life the most, so I agree with it from experience.

fo me, im in the middle of humanistic and cognitive

we have the freedom to do whatever we want we know what things COULD happen due to our choices. but in the end our bodies do what our we tell it too no matter what. i am also for the cognitive because i've seen how it works in my life and in others.

Probably the cognitive school because its like confidence to me. If you think you can do something then you can do it. most of the time when you believe you can you can. If i really believed it, it would be the best confidence builder.

I'd say cognitive. Everyone is all about "telling the universe what you want, and it will happen". And to some degree, I believe that. You will never be able to fully do something if you don't put your mind to it with complete confidence. If you believe you can run a mile each day, but your convinced your going to be very slow, the chances of you being slow is higher because you keep having those thoughts. It would work the same as if you thought you could do it in a reasonable amount of time. The more positive you are, the better chance you have.

i would have to say i side mostly with the psychoanylitic, i do believe we have a concious and subconsious mind, and that the subconcious mind affects us in our daily lives. however i also like the humanistic thinking, because i do believe we can overcome our subconcious mind, and do waht we believe is right.

I believe they are all true and they all connect, but i think the most important school is humanistic because it suggests free will and taking responsibility for our actions. The other schools beliefs can affect our knowledge, but can't cantrol who we are

I have such a hard time just picking one! But for this I think that I would say the Sociocultural school of psychology is the one that impacts us the most. Where your born, raised, influence who you will become. I have moved 13 times in my life and even though its never been a huge change I have been able to see how the different places, have different people and how they have all played a part in making me who I am today.

Dang. I know what I believe, but rather unfortunately for me it doesn't fit in to one specific school. Honestly, I think all of them have true points and points I find untrue. However, the truth of the world I have in MY mind blends them so much together that I couldn't give myself a label of agreeing "most" with any of them.

I agree with the humanistic school of thought because I love Disney movies. I believe that people can become whatever they want to be. I love to hear stories about people like Gandhi and Mandela, people who beat their circumstance, cituations, and social taboos to make a difference.

i believe in all of the schools because in a way they are all correct depending on your perseption. Humanistic links to cognitive to psycoanylitic to biochemical to behavioral and you belive in humanistic due to behavorial policies. a person that believes that you act a certian way might try less to not do something than a humanistic person. But why does that person believe in humanistic?
